Terms and conditions
This ‘pension journey’ site is for general information only. Please make sure that you understand how it works and its limitations. By using this site you are agreeing to the terms and conditions set out below.
The information contained on this website summarises the current contribution levels and benefits only of Afterwork and the BPSP. If there is any conflict between this information and the formal documents (for example, the Trust Deed and Rules or contract) governing either Afterwork or the BPSP respectively, the formal documents take precedence.
Barclays reserves the right to amend or discontinue pension schemes from time to time. The information is also based on Barclays' understanding of current legislation, taxation and HMRC practice which may change without notice.
About the ‘Journey through the Pension Jungle’ interactive tool
You will be asked questions at different points throughout the journey about your past, present and future financial situation; your general understanding of pensions or retirement savings and the differences between Afterwork and the Barclays Pension Savings Plan; and your attitude to risk-taking. Each answer you give will generate a profile result, which you will be able to read at the end of the journey. These profile results are based only on your responses to these questions.
You will also be given a final outcome page which is based on the personal code you enter at the start of the game. Your personal code has been generated from data held by the ‘www.yourpensionjourney.com’ (journey) site and is broadly based on your current salary, age, your legacy Barclays pension benefits and your current contribution rate.
The journey and profile results cannot take account of your exact personal circumstances and because of this you should not regard any of the information provided as either financial advice or recommendations. In particular they do not take into account the impact of the current Annual Allowance or Lifetime Allowance levels. Barclays, the Trustee and Willis Towers Watson cannot be responsible for any decisions you make.
You are responsible for carrying out your own research before deciding whether or not to switch from Afterwork to the Barclays Pension Savings Plan, and your personal situation relating to the current Annual Allowance and Lifetime Allowance. If you are considering switching or want specific advice about your own personal circumstances, you should talk to an impartial financial adviser. You can find one by visiting moneyadviceservice.org.uk/en/articles/choosing-a-financial-adviser.
There are many issues to consider when deciding which pension plan is right for you; the pension journey site cannot take all of these into account and its intention is to provide the information you may need to help you make your own decision.
If you are over age 50, and thinking about accessing your retirement savings, you should access the free and impartial guidance from the government’s pension guidance service – ‘Pension Wise’ – available to help you understand your options in relation to your defined contribution retirement savings. Pension Wise guidance can be accessed online, by phone (from The Pensions Advisory Service) or face-to-face (through the Citizens Advice Bureau).
For more details about this service and to arrange an appointment, visit pensionwise.gov.uk, phone the call centre on 030 0330 1001 or visit your local Citizens Advice Bureau.
